About Me

An acquired refugee from the days of exile at Selhurst Park, my first game being a dreary 1-1 draw with Millwall. A Good Reid

Good to see Reid back, and good riddance to McLeod. Another player needing to be paid off, and I suspect McLeod will not have compromised too much on the basic £400k + he would have earned this year. I genuinely feel that McLeod and Moutaouakil between them have trousered about £650k of Charlton money, and probably not less than £500k. Well done to the club for getting shot of the two of them anyway. At the other end of the scale, it would be a shame to see Basey go, but it does explain all the left sided transfer activity with Jackson and Reid the probable duo to patrol the left flank, possibly with (Esajas?), and hopefully a returning Youga as competition.

So what do we still need? A goalkeeper certainly, (Kitteridge?), cover at right back (Mulley?). I still feel we need a fourth central defender, but with cover from Semedo, and the youngsters Mambo, and Jenkinson, I doubt it will happen, although I would love to see (Fortune?) back. The left side of defence is probably complete, although it does rely on Youga recovering, preferably before Jackson gets injured. Basey may also stay of course, but I am less convinced he will now. Young Carter may well get a bow at left back if circumstances conspire against us.

The lack of cover continues in right midfield, and although Reid can do a job there, it doesn't represent enough cover for Wagstaff. (Sawyer?). The centre is probably one player light as well with Semedo, Racon, and McCormack backed up by Davisson, Stavrinou, (A.N.Other?).

Charlton's achilles heel once again is up front. Sodje is never going to be the answer to the need for a free scoring striker, and whilst I can see the logic of having a big lump up front in the third division, two front line strikers are definitely required. (Bauza?) may be one of them, but I am unclear as to who the second might be. (Thorvaldsson?) picked up an injury, but may well feature again before the season kicks off.
