Remember to put the cat out!

And so the club has thanked the 12,000 of us, who have renewed our season tickets thus far. I can't remember what our season ticket base was last season, but I suspect it was in the order of 17,000 - 18,000. Anybody notice anything?

Now I know that season tickets can still be bought, but the reality is that we will probably be looking at a 20%+ drop in our season ticket numbers for next season, which could equate to as much as £2m in revenue, when the "matchday experience" is taken into consideration. Bad news of course, as it adds further financial damage to the club, when it can least afford it.

Come on you lot! How is JT supposed to buy those blingy things for the wheels of his 4x4, if you lot don't stump up the readies?

    DD - I disagree. There was no incentive to buy earlier than 1st August this year and I believe there are several thousand season ticket holders yet to renew who are hanging onto their money until the last week of the deal. My bet is we break 15,000 which wouldn't be too bad bearing in mind what we saw last year.

    Surely the initial incentive was to secure your existing seat?, the deadline for which, has of course passed. I am not sure how many existing season ticket holders will hang on until August, at the expense of having to move to a new seat? Time will tell, and I would be delighted if we break 15,000, even though that would still be 2-3,000 down on last year.

    And of course there will be those of us who will be going fairly regularly but circumstances prohibit from attending every home match next season, i.e. ME and my boy.
    So that's two less than the total from last year. It all adds up!

    A good point Miss K. Although I have renewed my lads season ticket, economically it did not make sense, as there is no way that Mrs DD will let me keep him out untill 11pm on a school night. There is nothing the club can do about midweek fixtures, but as I can't make them either, due to work, I suspect that a combination of reasons, (including ability to attend, and the oft quoted credit crunch)will deter a significant number of people from renewing.

    It is true that not renewing your seat could well mean you lose it, but that will only happen if someone else comes along and buys it. I doubt that the ticket office would refuse to sell you your existing seat on 31 July if it hasn't been sold to someone else. Thus the only gamble would be if you thought your seat would go to a new season ticket holder. This must be considered unlikely as we can't get the current ticket holders to renew, and there is no incentive to buy a new ticket until the last possible moment.

    I am sure you are right KH, in that if your current seat is still available, then the club would of course sell it to you. It is a calculated risk some may be prepared to take I guess.

    Must have changed his car Pedro. Last one I saw was one of those big 4x4's with the shiniest wheel coverings on the planet. Still, good to know that all is well in his automotive world at least.
